Officials Training

Soo Finnish hosts a variety of events, including Ontario Cup #3, coming up January 16-18, 2026.

Please consider participating in officials training to help Soo Finnish continue to offer safe, fair, high-quality, and fun events in Sault Ste. Marie. You don’t need to be an experienced competitive skier to take part; officials training is a great way to learn more, get involved, and be a part of building a stronger ski community.

Level 1 Certification – online module

The Level 1 Officials course is available online through The Locker (coach.ca), under e-learning for cross-country skiing.

  • You’ll need an NCCP number to access the module; follow the prompts to create an account. If you’ve coached before or taken the safe sport modules, please use your existing NCCP account.
  • The course costs $25. Soo Finnish will reimburse you if you’ve helped out at one of our previous events and/or plan to this season. Keep your receipt and email us at soofinnishrace@gmail.com to commit to a volunteer job, and we will help arrange reimbursement.

Level 2 Certification – in person

If you’re interested in taking on more responsibility at races, including serving as a Chief, you’ll need Level 2 certification (Level 1 is a prerequisite).

This year, the Level 2 course is being offered in a hybrid format:

  • Thursday, Nov 6, 6–8pm – Zoom
  • Tuesday, Nov 11, 6–9pm – Zoom
  • Thursday, Nov 13, 6–9pm – Zoom
  • Saturday, Nov 15, 8:30am–4pm – In-person practical session in Sault Ste. Marie

Sign up for Level 2 here: https://thelocker.coach.ca/event/registration/14074

The cost is $125 upfront, and our Club will reimburse you if you plan to volunteer in a Level 2 role this season or in the future. Reach out to soofinnishrace@gmail.comto confirm your involvement.
