Soo Finnish Nordic Ski Club is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for everyone involved in our programs: athletes, participants, volunteers, officials, staff, and coaches.

In 2023, Nordiq Canada released a pan-Canadian Safe Sport policy suite, supported by a Safe Sport Toolkit, which divisional and provincial sport organizations, as well as clubs, are required to adopt. Cross Country Ski Ontario (XCSO) adopted the policy suite effective July 2023, and Soo Finnish Nordic Ski Club adopted the policies effective December 2023.

Our club’s Safe Sport and related policies can be found here.

Volunteer Requirements

Volunteers are an essential part of our club community. Different roles may have different requirements based on the level of responsibility, interaction with athletes, and program involvement. Requirements for certain volunteer roles can be found here.

We strongly encourage all volunteers and parents involved with Soo Finnish to complete the free multi-sport NCCP eLearning modules available through the Coaching Association of Canada’s Locker platform:

  • Safe Sport Training
  • Understanding the Rule of Two

These short online modules help promote a safe and positive sport environment for everyone.

Access: thelocker.coach.ca. (Must create an account – here are some instructions.)

The Club is required to monitor compliance with our policies, and will ask volunteers to submit documentation and agree to the Club collecting information as part of this process.  To simplify the collection of information, we have an online form for volunteers to complete.

If you have any questions, or need to update any information after you have completed the online form, please contact our Safe Sport Representatives at soofinnishsafesport@gmail.com
