We will also be honouring both Dee Patterson and Maija Laitinen who will be retiring from our Board in June. Thanks Dee and Maija for your leadership, passion, and commitment to the Club.
Please RSVP to our Secretary Don Nixon [email protected] prior to June 2nd to receive the Zoom meeting link and other meeting-related documents.

And the award goes to…
In normal years, we host our annual awards banquet in April to honour and recognize achievements in and contributions to our ski community. We very much look forward to an in-person ceremony when it is safe to do so. In the meantime, we have two years of award recipients to recognize. Our Joie de Ski recipients are listed on our website and other award winners will be recognized at our AGM on June 2, 2021. Congratulations!

Youth programs for next winter
We aim to open up registration in the Fall, likely sometime in October 2021, and 2020-2021 season Club members will be notified as plans develop.
Have friends that are interested in participating next season? A notification registration for non-Club members (new families) who are interested in receiving an email regarding registration dates and information for the 2021-2022 ski season can be accessed here. Please note this is simply to be informed about registration, it is not a confirmation of available space nor is it a waiting list. Those who sign up will be notified (along with 2020-2021 season Club members) in advance when registration opens.

Archives
We have a club member, Krista McCracken, who is an archivist at Algoma University. Krista has offered to help us to archive the history of the Soo Finnish Nordic Ski Club. Krista attended a Ski Club meeting over the winter and spoke to us about the possibilities and the benefits of archiving our past. The types of things that can be archived are photos, newspaper clippings, meeting minutes, meeting agendas, etc., anything you have been keeping in your basement that you believe could be kept as a part of our history.
The Board decided to utilize Algoma University as the repository for our history, considering the broader connections and long-term relationships SFNSC has with the Sault Ste. Marie Region Conservation Authority (SSMRCA), the Kinsmen Club of SSM, the Sault Finnish Club and other groups.
Please email [email protected] to contribute to this project.
Have any old photos or newspaper clippings you would like us to share on social media? Send photos to [email protected].

Thank you

A huge thank you goes out to our membership and friends who give to our community in so many ways.
