Local Skiers Earn Provincial Team Nominations

Kate de Beer named to Ontario Ski Team; Jasper Tchir selected to Ontario Junior Ski Team

The local ski community is celebrating two major athlete achievements, as Jasper Tchir has been nominated to the Ontario Junior Ski Team and Kate de Beer has been nominated to the Ontario Ski Team for the upcoming season.

Both teams are part of the high-performance pathway delivered by Cross Country Ski Ontario. The Ontario Ski Team supports the province’s top junior and U23 athletes, providing advanced coaching, training camps, performance testing, and national-level racing opportunities aimed at preparing athletes for success at the highest levels of competition. The Ontario Junior Ski Team focuses on developing emerging athletes, helping them transition into higher levels of racing through structured training, skill development, and targeted competition experiences.

These nominations recognize year-round training, strong race performances, and an overall commitment to excellence from both athletes. Their achievements are a proud moment for all supporters: their families, coaches, teammates, volunteers, sponsors, and broader ski community. Team announcements are an inspiration for younger athletes to demonstrate what is possible through dedication, teamwork, and a love for the sport with the Soo Finnish Nordic Ski Club.

The club extends heartfelt congratulations to both Kate and Jasper on this outstanding achievement and wishes them continued success as they represent Ontario in the coming season.
